Week at a Glance May 22nd - 26th

Here is the Week at a Glance for this upcoming week. In Language Arts, we will be finishing our Hero Unit by presenting our Hero papers and posters. Later in the week, we will be learning about Nouns and creating a Noun Town. In Math, we will be finishing Unit 8 and take the Assessment at the end of the week. In Social Studies, we will be taking a quiz on the 50 states and capitals. In Science, we will be continuing our Engineering Unit by building Catapults. We have Spelling this week and the words can be found on my last slide. 
 
Reminder: On Wednesday, May 24th we will going to the local park to celebrate our success on MCA testing. On Friday, May 26th we will be having Field Day in the afternoon. Please make sure your child is wearing tennis shoes for these events!

Week at a Glance May 15th - 19th

Here is the Week at a Glance for this upcoming week. In Language Arts, we will continue our Unit on Heroes. Please make sure your child is turning in their Hero Interview Packets. Those are due on Monday May 15th. In Math, we will finish up Unit 7 and begin Unit 8 later in the week. In Science, we will continue our building challenges. We will begin building bridges. We do need some more materials (toothpicks, marshmallows, and craft sticks). If you are willing to donate that would be greatly appreciated! In Social Studies, we will continue practicing all 50 States and Capitals. We will be having a test in the next couple of weeks. We do have Spelling this week and the words can be found on my last page!!
 
Reminders: Mother/Son Dance is on Wednesday, May 17th. Father/Daughter Dance is on Thursday, May 18th. Free Dress Days on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of this week!!

Week at a Glance May 8th - 12th

Here is the Week at a Glance for this upcoming week. In Language Arts, we will begin our Heroes Unit. I have sent home a packet regarding our Heroes Project. Please make sure your child is turning those questions to me by Monday, May 15th. In Math, we will continue Unit 7 which focuses on fractions and multiplication. In Science, we will continue with our Engineering Project and begin focusing on building huts. In Social Studies, we will focus on all 50 States and Capitals. We will be having a test in about 2 weeks! We do have spelling this week and the words can be found on my last slide! Please make sure you are spending a sometime at home to practice.

Here is the Week at a Glance for this upcoming week! In Language Arts, we will continue our Unit in Constellations and students will be writing about their own constellations. In Math, we will be finishing up Unit 6 and reviewing by the end of the week. In Social Studies, we will continue with Unit 9 on the states and capitals in the West. In Science, we will continue with Engineering. We have no spelling this week since it is a short week this week.
 
Reminders: Please keep bringing in items for our Raffle Basket!! I have collected a few items, we have a Beach themed basket. May Madness is on May 30th!

Week at a Glance April 17th - 21st

Here is the Week at a Glance for this upcoming week. In Language Arts, we will finish our Literature Study and begin learning about Constellations. In Math, we will continue with Unit 6 which focuses on division. In Science, we will continue our Unit in Engineering. In Social Studies, we will begin Chapter 9 and learning about the North West Region for States and Capitals. We do have Spelling this week and the words can be found on the last slide. We will take our Spelling Test on Friday. 
 
Reminders: We will be taking our Math MCA test on Thursday April 20th. Please make sure your child is arriving to school by 7:45am so we can have a smooth transition to begin our test! It is also important that your child will eat a good breakfast and a good night sleep the night before!

Here is the Week at a Glance for the upcoming week! In Language Arts, we will begin doing a Literature Study. In Math, we will be finishing Unit 5 and taking the Unit 5 Assessment. We will then begin Unit 6. In Science, we will continue learning about Engineering. In Social Studies, we will be continuing Chapter 8 and taking the Southwest States and Capitals test on Friday. Please make sure you are continuing to practice at home. We do have Spelling this week and the words can be found on my last slide. 
 
Reminders: March Madness Students vs. Staff slips are due on Monday April, 10th.

Week at a Glance April 3rd - 7th

Here is the Week at the Glance for the week after Spring Break! In Language Arts, we will be finishing up Unit 4 and begin Unit 5. In Math, we will continue doing Unit 5 learning about fractions. In Social Studies, we will continue reading Chapter 8 focusing on the southwest States & Capitals. In Science, we will begin our Unit in Engineering. We do not have Spelling this week because it will be a short week. We will be taking the MCA test on Thursday April 6th. Please make sure your child is getting enough sleep and eating a nutritious breakfast so they are able to do their best!

Week at a Glance March 20th - 24th

Here is the Week at a Glance for the upcoming week. In Language Arts, we will continue learning about text features focusing on description. We will then begin learning about Response to Literature using Non-fiction text. In Math, we will continue Unit 5. In Social Studies, we will begin Chapter 8 which focuses on the Southeast States and Capitals. I will be sending home the next set of flashcards this week. We will also be spending some time practicing for our MCA test coming up in April. We do have Spelling this week and the words can be found on the last slide. 
 
Upcoming Reminders: Monday March 20th, we will be having our Music Rehearsal. Please make sure your child brings in their recorder! On Tuesday, March 21st we will be having our Music Concert! This will also be a Free Dress Day for the students. On Friday March 24th, we will be having our Class Shoutout Party!!

Here is the Week at a Glance for this upcoming week! In Language Arts, we will continue learning about text structures. We will be focusing on cause and effect, compare and contrast, and then problem/solution. In Math, we will continue Unit 5 which focuses on fractions. In Social Studies, we will be wrapping up learning on the Midwest region. We will be taking our States and Capitals on Friday. Please make sure you are continuing to practice at home. We will also be preparing for our MCA testing that will be happening in April. We do have spelling this week and the words are posted on the last slide.
 
Reminder: Friday March 17th, is Free Dress day and Hat day!!
 
MCA Testing Announcement:

Per state requirements, students are unable to have access to their cell phones or wearable technology at any time during MCA or MTAS testing or during breaks from MCA or MTAS testing. In the event that a student has access to a cell phone or wearable technology during testing, the student’s test is required to be invalidated, even if the student did not use the device. Wearable technology includes but is not limited to smart watches and fitness trackers.

 

On dates when your student is scheduled to take MCA or MTAS assessments, your student will check in their phone and/or device with me on the morning of testing. I will collect the phone/device, put it in a labeled Ziploc bag and keep it in a locked cupboard until the end of testing for the day, at which time I will return the phone/device to your student.

Week at a Glance March 6th - 10th

Here is the week at a glance for this upcoming week! In Language Arts, we will begin our unit in text structures specifically looking at chronological order and cause and effect. In Math, we will continue with Unit 5. This unit we are focusing on fractions. In Social Studies, we will be learning about the Midwest States and Capitals. Please make sure you are continuing to practice your flashcards at home. We will also be preparing for the MCA tests this week. There is no spelling this week since we have a short week!
 
Reminders: No School on Friday March 10th.

Here is the Week at a Glance for this upcoming week! In Language Arts, we will continue learning on Author's Purpose and begin learning about Text Features. In Math, we will continue with Unit 5 which will be focusing on fractions. In Social Studies, we will begin learning about the Midwest States and Capitals. A packet will be going home with week with flashcards. We will be taking our Midwest States and Capitals in the next couple of week, so make sure you and your child are practicing at home! We will also be spending the next few weeks preparing the for MCA tests. We do have spelling this week and the words are posted on my last slide.

Here is the Week at a Glance for this week. Tomorrow (Tuesday February 21st) we will be having the World Culture Fair. Students are encouraged to dress up in Ecuador colors (yellow, blue, and red). We have spent a few weeks learning about Ecuador and are excited to present the culture with you! In Language Arts this week, we will begin learning about Author's Purpose. In Math, we will begin Unit 5 which focuses on fractions. We will be taking a break from Social Studies and Science to focus preparing for the MCA tests in April. We do have Spelling this week and those words can be found on my last slide.

Here is the Week at a Glance for this upcoming week. In Language Arts, we will continue to write poems and finish our unit in poetry. In Math, we will continue working on long division. This is a difficult concept to learn, so please make sure you are practicing at home. In Science, we will continue with our magnet unit. In Social Studies, we will be learning more about Ecuador and be getting ready for the World Culture Fair. We do have spelling this week and the words can be found on my last slide. 
 
Reminders: Tuesday February 14th, we will be celebrating Valentine's day. We will have a movie day, pass out carnations, etc. Free Dress Day is on February 14th and 17th this week.

Week at a Glance Feb. 6th - Feb. 10th

Here is the Week at a Glance for this week! In Language Arts, we will continue learning about figurative language. We will focus on alliteration, onomatopoeia, and rhyme scheme. In Math, we will be finished up Unit 4 by reviewing and taking the Unit 4 Math Assessment. In Science, we will continue learning about magnets and take notes. In Social Studies, we will be be taking our Chapter 6 Test and take our states and capitals quiz on the Southeast on Friday. Please make sure you are continuing to practice at home!
 
Reminders: Free Dress Day will be on Friday February 17th. The World Culture Fair is on February 21st.

Week at a Glance Jan. 30 - Feb. 3

Here is the Week at a Glance for this upcoming week. In Language Arts, we will continue learning about figurative language. We will continue working on idioms, hyperboles, personification, and begin alliteration. In Math, we will continue Unit 4 focusing on multiplication. In Social Studies, we will continue chapter 6 and review for our test next week. In Science, we will be taking our test on circuits and begin our unit in magnetism. We do have spelling this week and the words can be found on my last slide.
 
Reminders:
- Money for the Valentine's Day fundraiser will be due this Tuesday January 31st. 
- Conferences will be held on Monday February 6th. Please make sure you have a time signed up through Pick a Time. I look forward to seeing everyone at conferences to discuss your child's success!
