MCA Reading Wednesday and Thursday! (4/5-4/6)

Hello all, this is a reminder that 7th graders will be taking their Reading MCA test on Wednesday and Thursday of this week.

Per state requirements, students are unable to have access to their cell phones or wearable technology at any time during MCA or MTAS testing or during breaks from MCA or MTAS testing. In the event that a student has access to a cell phone or wearable technology during testing, the student’s test is required to be invalidated, even if the student did not use the device. Wearable technology includes but is not limited to smart watches and fitness trackers.

On dates when your student is scheduled to take MCA or MTAS assessments, your student will check in their phone and/or device with me on the morning of testing. I will collect the phone/device, put it in a labeled Ziploc bag and keep it in a locked cupboard until the end of testing for the day, at which time I will return the phone/device to your student.

You may also choose to have your student keep their cell phone or wearable technology at home on testing days.

Pleas let me know if you have any questions!

Science Test Friday! (3/24)

Hello all,

The Topic 4: Reproduction and Growth summative assessment will be coming up at the end of this week!

Students may use their notebooks and study guides on the test. The test will all be open response questions, so they should be able to use their own words to describe concepts related to what we have been learning.

Students should ensure that they have completed all/any missing notes in their notebooks. Study Guides will be worked on in class on Thursday.

End of Trimester 2!

Hello all,

As we approach the end of Trimester 2, I wanted to remind you that this is a great time for students to complete missing assignments and complete any test retakes. Next week Thursday (3/9) will be the last day for students to turn in assignments, as Friday (3/10) there is no school because of the grading day.

In science, students will not have any new grades added to the gradebook before this date. This means their current grade in science will be their final grade unless they turn in/retake work.

As always, please let me know if you have any questions!

Snow Days/E-Learning Science Assignment

Hello 7th graders/parents/guardians!

For science on these snow days/e-learning days, students should FINISH Lesson 5 (Controlling Processes) of Topic 3 (Human Body Systems).

  • Open Week 23 in Schoology
  • Click on Week 23 Slides and finish reading the material and TAKE NOTES on the vocabulary words
    • (If your student did not bring their science notebook home, have them take notes on a different sheet of paper that they can add into their notes upon returning to school)

We will have our Topic 3 Test (Lessons 1-5) on the day we return, so make sure your notes are ready! Remember, this will be an open notes summative where you will be designing an organizational chart to demonstrate the connections you have made throughout this topic.

As always, please let me know if you have any questions!

End of Trimester 1!

Hi all!
We are approaching the end of trimester 1!

Please remind students that Thursday (December 1st) is their last day to submit missing work or to complete retakes on summative assessments.

Also a reminder that there is no school for students on Friday due to the end of the trimester.

Topic 2 Test tomorrow! (10/14)

A reminder that we have our second test tomorrow in science. It will be on all of Topic 2: Physical Science. Please remind your student to have their notes prepared for class and to have completed their study guide for review!

Week 6 Update 10/10

Hello!

This week we will be wrapping up our Topic 2 unit on Physical Science. Students should be making sure that their assignments for the topic are completed so that they are well prepared for our upcoming summative assessments. This topic will consist of a two-part summative assessment including both a test and a lab component.

Please encourage your student to make sure their vocabulary notes are up to date and that they have completed any missing assignments to help them be able to do their best on their summative assessments.

Science Test Thursday! (9/22)

Today (9/21) students will be preparing for their first test on Topic 1 (The Practice of Science). Students are using an online study guide that can give instant feedback as they study for their test. They MAY use their notebooks for the test, so please help remind them that they should double check their notes to be sure they are completed with all of our vocabulary thus far.

If students were absent and missed a day, they can find the slides from class in the designated weekly Schoology folder.

Welcome Back! (9/15)

We have been rocking and rolling in science and are coming upon our first summative assessment. This week, we will be flying paper airplanes as we develop experiments. Next week, we will have our first test on Topic 1. Study Guides will be in the form of Google Forms so that students can practice and get immediate feedback. They will be allowed to use only their notebooks on the assessment. So please help remind them to get their notebooks up to date!

One other reminder that tomorrow (9/16) will be a free dress day with the Dress-Up day as Minnesota Sports Day!

If you ever have any questions, please feel free to reach out!
