I hope you are enjoying your weekend! We have a few events coming up.
Picture Day Picture day is Friday, September 20th. It is a free dress day so students don't need to be in uniform. Just make sure they have clothes and shoes that are ok for fitness.
Family Picnic This is on Tuesday, September 24th. The forms are due on Monday, the 16th. They were sent on Wednesday, if you can't find it, I will post a PDF on this webpage.
Walking Field Trip We have our walking field trip on Thursday, September 26th. We will walk to Founder's Park and spend time cleaning up the park.
Crazy Hair / Spirit Day On Friday, September 27th, we have our first Spartan Spirit day where students have a free dress day. The theme is crazy hair.
Math: We will continue our multiplication unit. This week will focus on multiplication methods (equal groups, skip counting, and repeated addition sentences). We will also introduce arrays. We will be practicing with 5s, 2s, 10s, and 9s this week. We are also dividing numbers too and looking at multiple way to solve.
Language Arts: We will be working on characters traits in stories. We will be using graphic organizers to help take notes on what we read. We will also discuss themes and messages of stories as well.
Spelling: We will send out our word list every Friday. We will then test the following Friday at school. You should have received a spelling word sheet with 15 words. We will spend a bit of time at school with the spelling words, but the majority of the studying will be at home. Please make sure to have students practice writing them at home. They could write them in sentences, write them multiple times, use colors, anything that gets them practicing the words. In case you did not see the words list, they are here:
Social Studies: We will continue our first unit on communities. We will be looking at the differences of urban, suburban, and rural communities, natural resources, and compare and contrast benefits of living in certain areas. We will be finishing the chapter, reviewing, and discussion the test this week. It will be taken the following week.
Homework: We will have homework this week in math and reading. There will be reading passage with a graphic organizer on the back. Students should take notes on the back, and answer the questions on the front. Math worksheets will be sent home connected to what we are learning in class.
Thanks, and enjoy your Weekend!
