Lesson Topics 

Echo My Rhythm - Listen closely and echo the rhythms I give play on the djembe! 

Listening and Music Word of the Day - The music word of the day is Instrumentation. Watch a video of musicians from East Africa. Describe the instrumentation you see the musicians using in this video. 

Making Homemade Drum or Shaker - A box or tupperware container will make a good drum. For a shaker, a ziploc bag or small tupperware filled halfway with coins, rice or other small objects works well. 

Song of the Day: Sing and Play “Jambo” - First, learn to pronounce the words to the Kenyan welcome song Jambo. Then we will keep the beat on our homemade shakers and drums as we play the song! Try to sing as you play.
