Hello and welcome to Third Grade!

This is my tenth year with our wonderful group of educators. Over the years, I have worked with students from pre-K up to 3rd grade. I earned my BA from the University of MN, and am nearly finished with graduate work at Hamline University. I've learned so much while in college classrooms, but I've gained as much, if not more, from working in a community filled with knowledgeable, passionate, hard-working people who are so committed to teaching our students.

When I'm not working, I love doing projects around my house and reading. My favorite thing to do is spending time with my family and friends. My husband and two daughters and I  like going to movies and cooking together. We like experimenting to see what we can get to grow in our garden and we love to relax at our cabin on Lake Superior. Wherever we spend our time, we always have our dogs, Scarlet and Chewie, along for the ride.

I'm so excited to see where this year takes us! I value every chance to teach and to learn from everyone in the community of room 245.

Reminder- No School Today

Good morning-
Just a reminder that we will not have school today or tomorrow as we are preparing to move to distance learning for a few weeks. I'll look forward to seeing everyone in our morning meeting on Nov. 30.

Study Island Assessments

Hello Families-
I will be assigning several tests on Study Island today. I want to explain a few things before students get started.
 
1. These are all being assigned today, but they do not all need to be done in one day! We are asking that students complete them by December 1. By assigning them today, we are hoping students can complete them at their own pace. We will continue to review the material in these tests up until Dec. 1.
 
2. Please have your student complete the tests on their own. We need as accurate an idea as possible of what students understand.
 
3. Because the items I'm assigning are considered tests, I will only be grading students based on the first attempt of each assessment. I know some students work on certain tasks several times until they get a certain score, However, for these items, students only need to complete them once.

No School Next Monday and Tuesday

Good morning 3rd grade families-
Just a quick reminder that there will be no school next week. We will be spending Monday and Tuesday planning as a team as we move to distance learning. Wednesday through Friday will be our Thanksgiving Break and I will look forward to seeing students virtually on the 30th. Take care and have a good weekend.

Pajama Day Tomorrow!

Hello Families-
Just a reminder that tomorrow is a free dress day for Group A; it's our second Spirit Day of the year and the theme is Pajama Day! I can… plank for 5 total minutes before I go to sleep tonight.
