Hello first grade families!

Math:

This week we will continue unit six. In unit six we will be learning about telling time, adding two-digit numbers in story problems, and place value. We will also review fact families and partners of ten. This week we will work on adding 2-digit numbers and review telling time to the hour and half hour.

Homework:

We will have math homework activity every night. Homework is mandatory and will be graded. Please make sure your student is completing their math homework nightly.

Language Arts

Reading:

This week we will be reading fiction stories and talk about the lesson the story teaches us.

Language Skills: This week we will learn about commas in a series.

Writing: We will write an option paragraph of our favorite book!

Spelling/Phonics:

We will be making and reading long vowel words.  This week spelling words are; cutie, lie, real, leaf, drain, grain, soak, coat, keep, & meet.

We will take a spelling and reading assessment on Thursday.

Homework: Make sure your child is reading and working on sight words for at least twenty minutes each night.

Reading at home:

Please have your student read online on their Razkids account twenty minutes each night!

Feb. 14, Flower Delivery and Classroom Friendship party. Wednesday will be a PINK and RED Free Dress Day for all students!

Feb. 19, No School

Feb. 20, World Culture Fair

Feb. 23, Red, White, and Blue Day

Friendship party: Feel free to send in cards, small toys or treats with your student on Wednesday, for our friendship party. We have thirteen students and two teachers in the classroom. You do not need to have your child put each student name on the cards. Just have your student write that it is from them by singing their name on the cards they will pass out to their classmates. Thanks!
