Newsletter for Week of February 5th
Hello first grade families!
Math:
This week we will continue unit six. In unit six we will be learning about telling time, adding two-digit numbers in story problems, and place value. We will also review fact families and partners of ten. This week we will work on adding 2-digit numbers.
Homework:
We will have math homework activity every night. Homework is mandatory and will be graded. Please make sure your student is completing their math homework nightly.
Language Arts
Reading:
We will continue unit six titled, Stories Teach Many Lessons. We will draw inferences in the fiction stories we read.
Language Skills: This week we will learn about commas in dates.
Writing: We will learn to write an option paragraph.
Spelling/Phonics:
We will be making and reading long A words. This week spelling words are; paint, paid, train, chain, away, day, wait, maze, male, & mate.
We will take a spelling and reading assessment on Thursday.
Homework: Make sure your child is reading and working on sight words for at least twenty minutes each night.
Reading at home:
Please have your student read online on their Raz-kids account twenty minutes each night!
