Newsletter for Week of February 26th     

Hello first grade families!  

Math:  

This week we begin unit seven. In unit 7 we will be learning about subtraction strategies and attributes of shapes.  

Homework:  

We will have math homework activity every night. Homework is mandatory and will be graded. Please make sure your student is completing their math homework nightly.  

Language Arts 

Reading: 

This week we will begin unit seven. In unit seven we will be learning about the past, present and future.  

Language and Writing Skills: This week we will write sentences about things that have happened in the past.  

Spelling/Phonics:  

We will be making and reading long vowel o, oa, ow, & oe, team words. This week’s spelling words are; soap, goes, coat, cold, toe, flows, toast, show, throw, and sold. 

We will take a spelling and reading assessment on Friday.  

Homework: Make sure your child is reading and working on sight words for at least twenty minutes each night.  

Reading at home:  

Please have your student read online on their Raz-kids account twenty minutes each night!
