Newsletter for Week of March 18th     

Hello first grade families! It is Spartan Spirit Week!!  

Monday: Hoodie Day 

Tuesday: Pajama Day 

Wednesday: School Color Day (red, black, gray, white) 

Thursday: Jersey Day 

Friday: Hat Day 

Math:  

This week we will complete and take the unit assessment for unit seven.  

Homework:  

We will have math homework activity every night.  

Language Arts 

Reading: 

This week we will begin unit eight. In unit eight we will research how to observe the sky.  

Language and Writing Skills: This week we will learn about pronouns. We will write sentences focusing on pronouns.  

Spelling/Phonics:  

We will be making and reading “-ar” words. This week’s spelling words are; are, arch, art, dark, bark, smart, garden, star, scar, guitar.  

We will take a spelling and reading assessment on Friday.  

Homework: Make sure your child is reading and working on sight words for at least twenty minutes each night.  

Reading at home:  

Please have your student read online on their Raz-kids account twenty minutes each night!

March 25-29th Spring Break- No School  

Students will come home with a spring break packet and books to read, to complete over spring break.  The packet is due April 1st.  Please make sure your child is reading and working on sight words everyday over spring break!!!!
