Newsletter for Week of April 22nd      

Hello first grade families! 

Math: This week we will begin our final math unit! In unit nine we will review measurement and learn how to add and subtract two-digit numbers.   

Homework:  We will have math homework activity every night.  

Language Arts 

Reading: This week we will continue unit nine. In unit nine we are learning about goods and services.  

Language and Writing Skills: This week we will review pronouns. We will write a story about the life cycle of a butterfly.  

Spelling/Phonics: We will be making and reading /oi/ diphthong words. 

Spelling words this week are; join, moist, point, spoil, choice, enjoy, cowboy, destroy, joy, & toy.   

We will take a spelling and reading comprehension assessment on Friday.  

Life Science: This week we will continue learning and observing the life cycle of a butterfly. We should have Butterflies emerging from our chrysalis’s this week!! The students are so excited to see the butterflies! 

Social Studies: We will be learning about trading goods and services in the past and present.  

Homework: Make sure your child is reading and working on sight words for at least twenty minutes each night.  

Reading at home:  Please have your student read online on their Raz-kids account twenty minutes each night!

Please send in items for our May Madness Raffle! We have not received any donations at this time. If you are able to donate garden items or cash (to purchase items) for our raffle basket, please send them with your child.
