I am excited to welcome you to the 2023-2024 school year! I’m  looking forward to having your child as a student in 1st grade. This year, students will be learning deeply across all subjects through a variety of interactive and engaging activitiesIn order to have a successful year, my most important goal is to create a community of learners in our classroom. I want your child to feel valued at school every single day.

I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with my degree in Elementary Education and I have been teaching for 35 years. This is my first year at Athlos Leadership Academy, and I am so excited to get to know each student and their families.

I welcome and value parent communication throughout the the year. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns you may have.

Additional Field Trip Information

Yesterday, a field trip permission slip was sent home and I wanted to reach out and give you some additional information:

All students must have a permission slip turned in to go to the zoo with us.  Please pay for the trip on the school portal as no cash will be taken.  If you have trouble or need help, please contact Christina Ferguson at the front desk and she can walk you through it.

If you would like to be a chaperone, mark the spot on the slip.  Expectations of a chaperone:

Chaperones will complete a background check.

Chaperones will help with all students, not just your own.

Chaperones will drive to the zoo on their own and meet us there.

Chaperones may not bring other family members along.

Chaperones may not take their child home from the zoo.  All children need to ride the bus home.

If you check the chaperone on the slip, a background check will be sent home with your child and I will be in touch with you.

If you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.

Thank you,

Sara Gray
