Week of 9/25

Hello Families!
 
Here is the schedule for the week:
 
Language Arts: We will be finishing up learning about reviewing and routines and start Unit 1, Observing Nature. We will focus on determining the main idea and comparing and contrasting points of view.
 
Math: This will be our last week reviewing third grade concepts to help prepare us for 4th grade math. We will focus on counting money, understanding fractions, interpreting data, and finding perimeter. On Friday, students will take a beginning of the year math test.
 
Social Studies: We will continue with Chapter 2, Lesson 4-5 learning about the history of the U.S. We will also review and take the Chapter 2 test on Thursday.
 
Science: We will finish up Chapter 1 learning about energy and motion.

September 29: Minnesota Sports Day/Free Dress Day

Hello Families!

Here is the schedule for this week:
 
Language Arts: We will continue to learn routines and expectations for our new language arts curriculum. We will practice asking questions, reviewing books, independent reading, and continue reading fun read-aloud books. 
 
Math: We will continue reviewing third grade concepts to help prepare us for 4th grade math. We will focus on division and word problem strategies.
 
Social Studies: We will take the Chapter 1 test and start Chapter 2, lessons 1-3.
 
Science: We will continue with Chapter 1 learning about energy and motion.
 
*We will be taking the math FastBridge test on Tuesday, September 19 and the reading FastBridge test on Wednesday, September 20. We will take this test 3 times during the year. The results of this test will help me to know what each student needs in order to grow in math and reading.

Here is the schedule for this week:
 
Language Arts: We will continue to learn routines and expectations for our new language arts curriculum. We will practice active listening, independent reading, and continue reading fun read-aloud books. 
 
Math: We will continue reviewing third grade concepts to help prepare us for 4th grade math. We will focus on subtraction and multiplication strategies.
 
Social Studies: We will complete Chapter 1, lessons 2-4 and review for our first social studies test on Chapter 1.
 
Science: We will continue with Chapter 1 learning about energy and motion.

Hello Families,
 
Welcome back to school! I'm so excited to get to know all my students and families this year. We will have a lot of fun together creating a community of learners. 
 
Here is the schedule for this week:
 
Language Arts: We are starting to learn routines and expectations for our new curriculum. We will be talking about what is looks like to be community or readers, listen to some fun read-aloud books, and have word study time.
 
Math: We will be reviewing concepts from third grade in order to be ready to learn 4th grade math in October. This week we will focus on place value and addition strategies.
 
Social Studies: We will start Chapter 1, Lesson 1 and learn about the geography of the United States.
 
Science: We will start Chapter 1 and learn about energy and motion.
