Governing Board Elections Info

Dear Athlos Leadership Academy Parents/Guardians and Staff,

Athlos Leadership Academy will be holding Governing Board elections on June 3, 2025 from 8:00am – 10:00am at Athlos Leadership Academy. Ballots may be picked up at the front desk and completed ballots can be placed in the locked box at the front desk. We will have someone available if you have any questions. Eligible voters include Athlos Leadership Academy staff members, board members, and parents or legal guardians of children enrolled at Athlos Leadership Academy.

ALA seeks school board nominees with professional experience in business, marketing, law, accounting, fundraising, education, and human resources. The ALA school board is comprised of community, parent, and teacher board members with professional expertise in one or more of the aforementioned categories.

As noted in the school handbooks, the Board accepts Board member nominations on an ongoing basis for applicable upcoming Board elections. Board members are elected to serve three-year terms. Board nominations were accepted through the April 1, 2025 deadline. Two nominations were made this year for seats that will open June 30, 2025. The election slate was approved by the Board at the April, 2025 Board meeting.

Nominee Information:

Nitiya Phromngam – Ms. Phromngam graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Human Services/ Human Resources and brings an expertise in fundraising and human resources. She has participated in many volunteer experiences ranging from People Serving People to homework help for kids. She loves being a team player.

She wants to be able to contribute to the school community and help shape the future of education. She is excited to help improve the school community, make a difference in the lives of little ones and support where she can.

Joy Blanchard- Ms. Blanchard has classroom teaching experience including teaching all grades K-6 (except for 5th grade).  She also coordinated a gifted and talented program for K-6 students.  As a Minneapolis school principal, she gained experience with all organizational areas of operating a school. 

Topics associated with fundraising, marketing, school law, human resources, accounting/finance and managing facilities are closely related to the administrative skills gained in her experiences.  Ms. Blanchard also has experience with school improvement planning for K-12 schools and districts.  Most recently, she worked with a district to mentor principals K-12.
