Hello and welcome to Third Grade!

This is my tenth year with our wonderful group of educators. Over the years, I have worked with students from pre-K up to 3rd grade. I earned my BA from the University of MN, and am nearly finished with graduate work at Hamline University. I've learned so much while in college classrooms, but I've gained as much, if not more, from working in a community filled with knowledgeable, passionate, hard-working people who are so committed to teaching our students.

When I'm not working, I love doing projects around my house and reading. My favorite thing to do is spending time with my family and friends. My husband and two daughters and I  like going to movies and cooking together. We like experimenting to see what we can get to grow in our garden and we love to relax at our cabin on Lake Superior. Wherever we spend our time, we always have our dogs, Scarlet and Chewie, along for the ride.

I'm so excited to see where this year takes us! I value every chance to teach and to learn from everyone in the community of room 245.

Week of Sept. 15, 2025

Hello Families!
I can't believe we're already starting our third week of school! This week we are going to be staying busy.
In Math we are going to practice some strategies for adding and subtracting 3-digit numbers, and we'll get into how to use fact families to help with some bigger numbers. We'll also keep going with what we did over the last couple of weeks with rounding to help us make some estimates.
In Language Arts we are going to be reading some more folk tales and fables to help us learn about character traits. We'll also get into some work with nouns, compound words and sequencing a story. This week we'll have our first spelling test. Words will go home on Monday and we'll take a test on Friday. While we will spend some time practicing the words at school, my hope is that students will practice the words at home as well.
In Science we'll continue to learn about the Moon, & Sun. We'll learn more about shadows and start to observe how the Moon changes a bit each day.
In Social Studies, we will keep learning about communities, what makes them successful and the different types of communities people live in.
I will continue to call families to make sure the year is off to a good start for everyone, but if you have questions, feel free to reach out either by phone or email.
Thanks and have a great week!
-Mrs. Huberty

Welcome to the 2025-2026 School Year

Hello Athlos Families!
I hope you all had a wonderful summer! I am excited to get started with our school year and see all the growth our students will make! I am also looking forward to meeting many of you at our Back to School event. For anyone unable to attend, I will send home any info with your student on the first day of school.
We will ease into the school year with some introductions of each other, getting to know the classroom and learning about routines and expectations. We will also begin with some easy homework during the first week of school, just to get students ready for 3rd grade life.
This webpage is where I will post things like spelling lists, reminders about upcoming events at school, as well as a general outline of what we are working on during each week.
I look forward to getting to know you and working together to ensure the best year possible for your student.
Let's have a great year!
-Mrs. Huberty
