Bio

Hello! My name is Zack Davenport and I’m excited to teach 7th grade US history at Athlos Leadership Academy. I grew up in Minneapolis and lived in Washington, DC and Rabat, Morocco before returning to the Twin Cities to teach social studies. In US history we will learn how to think like historians so we can interpret America’s complex past. We will become better readers, writers, and speakers. And along the way we will have many class discussions to help us learn how to respectfully disagree and learn from each other about what it means to be an American in 2025. Please contact me at [email protected] should you have any questions during the year.

Week 5 (Sept. 29-Oct. 3) - Unit 1 Test

Sorry for not posting updates the last couple weeks. I was in Europe last week learning about World War II in Germany and Poland.

While I was gone, students learned more about our constitutional rights by completing a packet (called "Sub Packet"). So long as students did about half of the packet, they got full credit for it.

This week, we are reviewing for our Unit 1 test on the Declaration of Independence, unalienable rights, and the principles of the Constitution. We will have our test on Thursday, Oct. 2.

Week 2 (Sept. 8-12) - Declaration of Independence & Constitution

Historians, you persevered through the first week of class!
This week we will explore the principles and values at the heart of the Declaration of Independence and Preamble to the Constitution.

Most of you turned in your Syllabus Hunt last week, but if you haven't, you have until Thursday, Sept. 11 to turn it in. (you can find the assignment on the US Studies Google Classroom)
