Hello! Welcome to 8th Grade Math! I' m Ms. Baccam and this will be my 6th year at Athlos Leadership Academy. I was born and raised in Brooklyn Park, MN and I graduated from Augsburg University. At Augsburg I received a degree in Mathematics for Secondary Education.

MCA Schedule 2022

 Hello Families,

Beginning March 21st, 8th graders are scheduled take the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCAs).

 

Here is the 8th grade schedule for MCAs.

  • Reading MCA  - March 21st
  • Math MCA - April 18th 
  • Science MCA - May 3rd

Per state requirements, students are unable to have access to their cell phones or wearable technology at any time during MCA testing or during breaks from MCA testing. In the event that a student has access to a cell phone or wearable technology during testing, the student’s test is required to be invalidated, even if the student did not use the device. Wearable technology includes, but is not limited to smart watches and fitness trackers.

 

On dates when your student is scheduled to take MCA assessments, your student will check in their phone and/or device with me on the morning of testing. I will collect the phone/device, put it in a labeled zip locked bag and keep it in a locked cupboard until the end of testing for the day, at which time I will return the phone/device to your student.

Hey Students,
 
I'll be gone Thurs. (Jan. 26th) and Friday (Jan. 28th), so there will be no Live Stream for Math. 
 
However, you have assignments to complete on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. All of them needs to be completed and submitted to Schoology for points.
 
I'll post those assignments on that day for you to complete:
  • Thurs. - Submit "9.1 Square Root Review Day 1"
  • Fri. - Submit "9.1 Square Root Review Day 2"

We have an early school dismissal today so I won't have a Math Live stream today at 9:05am.
 
We will continue Chapter 8 Section 1 next week on Monday. 
 
For TODAY, work on page 174 #1-8 in your student journal. When you are done just send a picture of that page to me on Schoology.

I'm out of town for these next 2 days so there will be no math live zooms for the next two days. However, there will be 2 assignments on Schoology that you will need to do and submit.
 
It's a review on functions so use your notes as a guide. Let me know if you have any questions.
