February 27-March 2

It was so nice to see so many of you at the World Culture Fair.  The kids had an awesome time learning about Kenya.  If you were unable to attend, ask your student what they learned and look at their Kenya book they brought home!  Such a fun time!!

Spelling words:  book, look, cook, shook, foot, good, stood, wood, push, put

Math:  We will continue talking and learning about 2 step math problems and graphing.  New material will include shapes, arrays, and reviewing strategies to help us with our addition and subtraction.  It is important that the basic addition and subtraction facts are being practiced!!

Reading/Language Arts:  We will continue to talk about folktales, fables, myths, and legends.  Our big question we are working on answering is how different cultures can help us learn!  We are really taking a close look at the stories to see what context clues the author gives us to answer the following:  What is the main idea of the story?  What are the supporting details?  What is the lesson that we are learning from the story?

We will also be working on writing an animal research paper.  We will learn about taking notes, putting the notes into sentences, and then turn our sentences into a short report!
