Look at the Week 3-16-26
Here is a look at our week.
Language Arts: This week we will continue our Benchmark curriculum unit 8 is titled "Observing the Sky." This unit shifts students toward earth science through literacy, focusing on how we observe and understand celestial objects.
Unit 8 Overview: "Observing the Sky"
- Essential Question: Why do the sun and moon capture our imagination?
- Core Topics: Students read and learn about the sun, moon, stars, comets,and atmospheric phenomena like lightning.
- Reading: Identifying the central idea (main topic) and retelling important details.
We will be taking a reading comprehension assessment on Friday.
Spelling: This week we will be learning about “or” Vowel teams. This week’s spelling words are: organ, order, storm, story, coarse, bored, core, roar, chore, & store. Spelling test will be given Friday.
Science: This week we will begin a unit called Save the Bees! This week we will learn the life cycle, anatomy, and critical role of bees as pollinators. We will integrate Earth and Life sciences to help students understand how animals and plants depend on each other for survival.
Math: This week we will continue unit 8 in our Everyday Math curriculum. Unit 8 (Mental Arithmetic, Money, and Fractions) focuses on advancing money skills to include dollar bills, strengthening mental math strategies, and introducing fraction concepts. Children learn to count combinations of coins and bills, solve word problems, and identify halves and fourths of shapes and sets.
We will have Math homework nightly.
