Week 4 September 22-26
Hello first grade families!
Here is a look at our 4th week of school!
Language Arts: This week we will continue learning about life cycles and how living things grow and change. We will be working on short “o” words. We will work on writing complete sentences and capitalization. We will be describing the characters and the setting in the stories we read.
This week spelling words are; hot, for, jump, mop, one, log, dot, crops, log, & frog. Spelling test will be on Friday! Please practice these spelling words with your child nightly.
Math: This week we will continue our Everyday Math curriculum, "Unit 1” focuses on foundational concepts for first grade, including place value (especially tens and ones), number sense, and the development of addition and subtraction strategies within 20.
Science: We will continue our science unit on life cycles.
Nightly student homework:
spelling words, math worksheet, Weekly packet worksheet, practice sight words, and reading for twenty minutes each night.

· September 26th MN Sports Day! Free dress for all students! GO VIKES!:)
· Grandparents Breakfast on Tuesday, October 7th! The deadline for families to submit RSVP forms is Friday, September 30th

Reminders:
· Send a healthy snack with your student daily! We have a late lunch at 12:25 and need a snack to help them through the morning!
· Make sure your child has shoes for fitness. We go to fitness on Monday’s and Tuesday’s. They will not be able to participate if they are not wearing appropriate shoes.
· Send weather appropriate clothing with your child daily as we go outside for recess daily.
· Please make sure your child is reading and working on homework every night.
· Please communicate with the front office about any end of the day transportation changes by 2:00 o’clock PM.
· Please make sure you are checking your child’s red take home folder nightly. Students should bring their homework folder to school daily.
