week 1 post 9/7-9/11

Peek Of The Week
Sep 7th- Sep 11th
Hello second grade families!
Please send your child to school with a healthy snack each day.  We will have a 10 minute snack time in the morning, so please send in something that your child can eat within that time frame.  Some healthy snacks include:  fruit, vegetables, popcorn, crackers, etc.  Please NO candy, donuts, cookies, etc. for snack.  Water bottles are allowed at school with water only!
Math: We are starting our first unit based on basic math skills being counting up and down to solve problems. Working on number lines to solve equations. Along with coin identification and less than, greater than, or equal to comparisons. 
Homework: Your student will have math facts, math skills, spelling, and comprehension worksheets to complete. Homework will go home on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday throughout the week it needs to be completed and returned the next day.
Ex: Monday’s HW sheet goes home bring back Tuesday! 
*Please have your student read for at least 20 minutes every night*
Language Arts: We will be starting our first unit about habitats. Focusing on the plants, animals, and adaptations animals may have. Working with readings, journal entries, and vocabulary around habitats! 
Spelling: We are working with words that have beginning digraph blends in them. The spelling words this week are… ship, fish, chop, lunch, thin, math, when, neck, sing, lung.
*We will be having our spelling test on Friday!”
Science:  We will be learning about habitats. Including, where animals live, what they eat, their living environment, and their survival instincts!
