Henri Matisse Organic Collages

 

I will learn about color, so that I can create painted paper by mixing primary colors to make secondary colors. 

I will learn about shape, so that I can identify and create organic and geometric shapes for my artwork similar to the style of artist HENRI MATISSE.

Idol (Personal Superhero) Graphite Drawing (5-8)

 

I will be able to create multiple tones of value. 

I will be able to transfer an image of a person using my knowledge of value.

Paper Sculpture

 

I can create a sculpture based on artwork by Frank Stella. 

I will use sculpture to tell about myself. 

I can use paper to create a variety of lines. 

Hundertwasser Paintings: Pre K- K

 

• I will learn about ARTIST FRIEDENSREICH HUNDERTWASSER and how he used
nature as inspiration for his art.
•  will learn about LINE and COLOR, so that I CAN draw ORGANIC shapes and
CONCENTRIC CIRCLES inspired by nature using crayons.
•I will learn about WATERCOLOR RESIST so I CAN create a wash over my oil pastel
lines. 

Texture: Introduction to understanding the difference between visual and physical texture (Pre K -K) 

 

I will learn different types of texture (smooth, rough, bumpy, fuzzy, etc.) 

I will learn about being able to transfer objects with physical texture onto paper to create physical texture. 

Line and Pattern Water Resist Pumpkins: Review of different types of line and pattern. (Pre K -K) 

 

I can use watercolor and understand why watercolor doesn't paint over crayon (wax)

I will be able to apply my prior knowledge of different types of line and pattern.

Warm Color Leaf Study: Pre K-K

 

I can identify what the warm colors are. 

I can use different mediums (coffee filters) to create art

I can use scissors safely. 

Installation Piece: For DOT DAY (September 15th) The entire school will be creating a dot, we will discuss how everyone is an artist and how we can make a positive mark on the world.  Students will be watching "The Dot"  and then creating their own dot, we will create a dot mural in the hallway with everyone's unique mark. 

 

I will be able to identify primary, secondary, cool, warm, complementary and analogous colors.

I can create original artwork to create a collaborative mural. 

I understand the difference between public art and graffiti. 

Line, Color & Pattern: This lesson is a wonderful opportunity to introduce PreK and Kinders to the building blocks of art making: line and color.

 

PRE K & K: 

• Today I will learn about LINE. 
• Today I will learn about COLOR, so that I CAN paint my artwork by experimenting with
PAINT and adding CONTRAST.
• Today I will learn about PATTERN, so that I CAN create artwork that includes many REPEATING
LINES such as zig-zag, straight, curved, wavy, bubbles and swirls.

• Today I will learn about Aboriginal Art and the advancements that have been made with art supplies over time.
