International Geography Bee

Hey everyone!

I’m excited to share that this year, all 8th grade students have the opportunity to take a qualifying quiz and potentially compete in the International Geography Bee! This is an enriching and exciting competition amongst 8th grade students around the state and country. Students who qualify can attend a Regional Finals Tournament where they will be quizzed on their geography skills, and the top half of students at Regionals qualify for the National Champions Tournament in Orlando, Florida this June!

Click the website linked here to learn more about the International Geography Bee.

This is completely optional for all students. Parents pay for and accompany their children to regional and national competitions. I encourage all students to participate, especially those who have high grades in social studies, enjoy a challenge, and consider themselves knowledgeable about geography in general!

If you are interested, please follow the steps below:

  1. Follow this link to log-in with Ms. Bittner’s Sponsor ID and make a student account
    1. Link: https://orqe.iac-exams.com/orqe

    1. This is a free exam that should take around 20 minutes
  3. Ms. Bittner will let you know if you qualify when she gets notified

If you have any questions at all please reach out! I’m very excited to have some Athlos 8th graders competing in the Geography Bee!

Collecting Holiday Decorations for a Winter Wonderland/ Valentines Heart Parade!

Hey everyone!

Since we were unable to have our Winter Wonderland Tree Parade before winter break, we are rescheduling it to Friday, February 11th and combining it with a Valentines celebration!

Same as before, all classrooms will need holiday tree decorations, so we are collecting old and new winter tree decorations of any kind.

If you have any decorations lying around or are willing to donate any decorations, we very much appreciate it! We can't wait to celebrate the winter season and Valentines Day with some holiday joy :)

8th Grade eLearning Packet

Attached is an eLearning packet. This packet will be printed off and sent home with your student in the near future. Please keep this packet in a safe place. It will be used if your student needs to learn from home for any reason. Thank you and let me know if you have any questions!
