Book Fair!

Our class is going to the book fair on Friday (6/2)! If your student would like to purchase something from the book fair, please send them with money on Friday. This will be the only time that students will be able to go to the book fair.

Here's our plan for the week!
 
In Language Arts, we will be reviewing nouns and adjectives. In Math, we will be doing an End of the Year math review. For Science, students will be making their catapults. In Social Studies, students will be working on their state research project!
 
May Madness is Tuesday night (5/30)!! Students who are playing in the basketball game should be here at 5pm! 
 
MCA Party: Students are getting Chick-fil-a on Tuesday for lunch!
 
Talent show is on June 1st!

MCA Party!!

Since students worked hard on their MCAs, we are getting Chick-Fil-A today for lunch! If you student would not like Chick-Fil-A, they can bring an alternative :)

Week at a Glance 5.22-5.26

Good Morning! Here's what our week looks like:
 
In Language Arts we will be finishing up our hero unit and start working with nouns.  We will be having our last spelling test on Friday for the year!  The words will be listed at the bottom. In Math we will finish Unit 8 and test on Friday. In Social Studies, we will have our 50 States and Capitals test on Friday. Students will also be working on their State Project. In Science, we will begin engineering catapults.
 
Announcements:
On Wednesday, May 24th we will going to the local park to celebrate our success on MCA testing. On Friday, May 26th we will be having Field Day in the afternoon. Friday will be a free dress day for students. Please make sure your child is wearing tennis shoes for these events!

Week at a Glance 5.15-5.20

Good Morning, this is our plan for the week:
 
We will have a spelling test on Friday. Your student should have their hero packet completed and turned in. In Language Arts, we will continue with our hero unit. The students will be creating presentations about their hero.
 
In Math, we will have our Unit 7 review tomorrow and test Unit 7 on Tuesday.  We will then begin Unit 8.
 
In Social Studies, the students will begin researching and creating a presentation about a state they chose.  Please be sure they are studying all 50 states and capitals.
 
In Science, we are continuing with our engineering unit.  A green sheet with needed supplies for our experiments was sent home with your student.  Any donations are much appreciated.
 
Reminders:
- The mother/son dance will take place on Wednesday 5/17 at 1:45.  It will be free dress day for all students.  Please check in with the front office.
- The father/daughter dance will take place on Thursday 5/18 at 1:45.  It will be a free dress day for all students.  Please check in with the front office.
- Beach Day/Free Dress Day on Friday!

Here is the Week at a Glance for this upcoming week. Spelling words are listed on the first page!
 
In Language Arts, we will begin our Heroes Unit. I have sent home a packet regarding our Heroes Project. Please make sure your child is turning those questions to me by Monday, May 15th. For Math, we will continue Unit 7 which focuses on fractions and multiplication. We will take some quizzes to check for understanding this week. In Science, we will continue with our Engineering Project and begin focusing on building huts. In Social Studies, we will focus on all 50 States and Capitals. Students will be focusing on one state and creating a project! We will be having a test in about 2 weeks!

A few reminders to start off this week:
- May 5th is the final day to turn in forms for the Father/Daughter and Mother/Son dance.
- Talent Show forms are due May 3rd.
- Field Day Shirt orders are due May 3rd
 
In Language Arts this week, student's will present their constellation to the class. We will then start our Hercules' Quest Literature Study and review Unit 5 on Friday. We will have a Unit 5 LA test on Monday (5/8). In Math, we will test for Unit 6 Monday and Tuesday. We will then begin Unit 7. In Science, we will review what we have learned in our engineering unit and then test on Wednesday. In Social Studies, we will review and test on the West region of the U.S. The test for West States & Capitals and the chapter test will be on Friday (5/5)

Week at a Glance 4.24-4.28

Happy Monday! Here's our plan for this week.
 
There will be no spelling this week with the short week. In Language Arts, students will be creating their own constellation stories of origin. For Math, we will be finishing Unit 6 and reviewing for our Unit 6 test that will be next Monday and Tuesday. In Social Studies, we will continue to learn about the West.  Please make sure your student is studying their states and capitals packet. We will be testing our West States and Capitals next week. In Science, we will continue building our cars that will be raced on Friday! Please have students bring in bottle caps, water bottles, cardboard, wooden skewers, etc.

In Language Arts, we are finishing our myth literature study and starting to learn about constellations. For Math, we are continuing Unit 6. Students will focus on angles this week. In Science, we are still focusing on simple machines. We are starting Chapter 9 in Social Studies. Your students will get the practice flashcards for the West States and Capitals this week. 
 
Our Math MCA is on Tuesday (4/18)! Please make sure your child is at school on time, we will be starting to test around 8am. It is important that your child will eat a good breakfast and a good night sleep the night before!

Week at a Glance 4.10-4.14

Here is a look into what our plan is for the week!  
 
In Language arts, we will take our Unit 4 test on Monday. We will then start our literature study.  We will also have a spelling test on Friday, the words are on the first page. In Math, we will be reviewing reviewing for our Unit 5 test that will take place on Tuesday.  After that, we will begin Unit 6 which focuses on division. In Social Studies, we will have our Chapter 8 book test as well as our Southwest States and Capitals test on Friday. For Science, we will continue to learn about engineering/simple machines!
 
Reminders: March Madness Students vs. Staff slips are due on Monday April, 10th.

May Madness Raffle

May Madness is coming!!
 
Our theme is Sun and Sand/Beach and Water! We are going to start collecting items for our raffle basket. Donations can be items that relate to our theme or can be cash donations. The last day to send in donations is April 27th. The flyer lists a few ideas that you can donate!

Week at a Glance 4.3-4.7

Welcome back from break! I hope you all had an enjoyable and relaxing week! Here's our plan for the week. 
 
We will not be having spelling because of the short week and MCAs. In Language Arts and Math we are going to be reviewing. We are starting to learn about simple machines in Science. I sent home a letter before break asking for some donations of supplies for our Science unit, please let me know if you have any questions. In Social Studies we are going to be starting Unit 8, that focuses on the Southwest. Please be practicing your Southwest States and Capitals. 
 
Reminders/Announcements
- Reading MCA is Tomorrow (Tuesday 4/4). Please make sure your child gets a good night sleep, eats breakfast, and is prepared to test!
- May Madness t-shirts are due Sunday, April 9th
- Student vs. Staff Basketball Game: Permission slips are due Monday, April 10th. I will be sending home the permission slips today!
- May Madness Raffle Basket: We are collecting things for our raffle theme basket. Our theme is Sun and Sand! I'm sending home a flyer with more information today.

Week at a Glance 3.20-3.24

Here's our plan for the last week before Spring Break! The spelling words are on the first page, the spelling test will be on Friday.
 
In Language Arts, we are finishing learning about text structures. We will start reviewing nonfiction RTL and take a test on it on Friday. In Math, we are continuing Unit 5 and focusing on angles this week. In Social Studies we are starting Chapter 8. Students will be getting flashcard to help them study their states and capitals at home! We are continuing to prepare for the upcoming MCAs in April.
 
Reminders/Announcements: 
Monday (3/20) we will be having our Music Rehearsal. Please make sure your child brings in their recorder! On Tuesday (3/21) we will be having our Music Concert! This is a Free Dress Day for the students. The songs may be accessed your student for practice in the previous post.
 
Our class earned 75 shout-outs! We will be having a party on Friday (3/24) to celebrate your student's hard work!! I will send out more information about our shout-out party this week.
