Hello 3rd grade families,
See below for this week's schedule
 
Math: We will review perimeter early in the week and then spend the remainder working on input/output tables for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
 
Language Arts: We will be practicing our handwriting and learning how to determine the meaning of words based on the context that their in.
 
Social Studies/Science: We will be learning about the country of Nigeria for World Fair day on Friday and learning about how we test hypotheses and record the results.
 
Spelling: We will be stopping our work on spelling at this time and will be using the time instead to work on handwriting. There will not be any spelling lists going home for the time being.

Hello 3rd Grade Families,
Here is the schedule for next week:
 
Language Arts: We will be reviewing parts of speech. We will also be focusing on figuring out the meanings of unknown words in a sentence. 
 
Math: This week we will be working on two different math
skills. We will be learning about perimeter and about reading a
thermometer. 
 
Science and Social Studies: We will continue to learn about how government works.
 
MCA Prep: We will be diving in to reading passages and working on our reading stamina so we can do our best to answer reading comprehension questions
 
Spelling: We will be working on words that have the /th/, /sh/, and /wh/ sounds
List: Path, social, whale, shimmer, thought, who, what, when, where, why, motion, ashamed, shelter, throat, position, ticket, second, ache
Challenge words: delicious, threatened

Language Arts: This next week we will be working on why authors write what they do and we will also be working on grammar. 
 
Math: We will spend the week working on different kinds of word problems and learning how to solve them.
 
Social Studies: We will be spending part of the week learning about the government and how it works.
 
*We will also continue working on preparing for the MCA
 
Spelling: This week we will be working on words that have similar sounds but are spelled differently, with the /j/, /ch/, and /tch/ sounds

Language Arts: We've spent the last two weeks talking about the different types of text structures in nonfiction and so next week we will read examples of nonfiction and work on being able to answer questions about it.
 
Math: We're going to start working on two digit by one digit multiplication!
 
MCA Prep: We're currently slowing down on Social Studies and Science to start preparing for the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment in April. I will be trying to get a bit of science and social studies fit in where I can though!

Hello 4th grade families,
The schedule for next week will be the same as this week due to the bad weather this week causing us to not get through everything. Homework from this week will be due at the end of next week and we will just spend an extra week working on the spelling words since they are a bit trickier anyway.

Week of 1/19

Hello 3rd grade families, 
See below for this week's schedule
 
Reading/Writing: This week we will be learning how to identify the different types of text structures in nonfiction and practicing answering questions about a non-fiction text.

Math: We are going wrap up our division lessons with some word problems and then work on understanding how to multiply and divide with missing numbers.

Science: We will be wrapping up our writing on animal adaptations and we'll also be starting to learn about the MCA test that happens in the Spring.

Social Studies: We have not yet returned to Social Studies yet, due to Animal Adaptations taking longer than anticipated. Once we finish our papers this week, we will start back up again with Social Studies.

Fastbridge
The students are currently taking a set of 3rd grade reading and math tests in class. We started last week with reading, and we will start math on Tuesday. This is the same type of test they took in the Fall and results will be discussed at conferences.

Reading/Writing: This week we will be working on our Animal Adaptations paragraphs and learning about different text structures such as descriptive, cause and effect, problem and solution, and sequential.

Math: We are going to keep learning about division and how it
is connected to multiplication. We will also look at how division
word problems will look with key words like split and share.

Science: We will continue to learn about animal adaptations and work on our paragraphs

Social Studies: We are learning about our government.
 
Spelling: We're working on Homophones this week, so we'll also be memorizing the meaning of the words as well.

Math: We will spend the first half of the week reviewing and testing on a last few skills to show how we've improved throughout the trimester before it ends. We will be working on addition and subtraction problems as well as word problems. We will also be working on geometry: what area is and how to find it.
 
Language Arts: We will be working on a variety of skills, including how to determine a writer's opinion and recognizing character traits in a story. We will also be working further on recognizing morphemes like prefixes, suffixes, and base words
 
Science: We will begin learning about life cycles.
 
Social Studies: We will be discussing how different regions can have different resources and how they are used!
