Our Week at a Glance
March 16th-20th
 
Hello second grade families!
Please send your child to school with a healthy snack each day.  We will have a 10 minute snack time in the morning, so please send in something that your child can eat within that time frame.  Some healthy snacks include:  fruit, vegetables, popcorn, crackers, etc.  Please NO candy, donuts, cookies, etc. for snack.  Water bottles are allowed at school with water only!
 
Math: We are continuing unit 8 this week! Focusing on geometry and arrays. Learning more about attributes, parallel lines, sides, and angles that make up shapes. Along with continuing to solve addition and subtraction word problems!
 
Homework: Your student will have math and spelling homework each week to complete.  Homework will go home on Monday’s and needs to be completed and returned the following Monday.
 
*Please have your student read for at least 20 minutes every night*
 
Language Arts: We are continuing unit 8! We will be reading into how natural forces like wind and water shape the earth. Understanding how to find text evidence to better help students comprehend a story's message. Overall, engaging students in exploring the relationship between natural processes and human life! 
 
Spelling: We are working with words that have the -er, -or sounds in them. This week our spelling words are… farmer, teacher, baker, writer, dancer, visitor, actor, sailor, doctor, inventor. 
*We will be having our spelling test on Friday!”
 
Social Studies:  We will be continuing unit 5 in social studies! We are studying about all kinds of heroes that we see everyday!  We are also talking about heroes who shaped the United States and the world.  We will have our test this week!

Homework: Your student will have math and spelling homework each week to complete.  Homework will go home on Monday’s and needs to be completed and returned the following Monday, Monday March 9th.
*Please have your student read for at least 20 minutes every night*
 
Language Arts: We are continuing unit 7! Looking into “focusing on the past”, exploring American history and how it has shaped our future. Analyzing text while learning about important historical figures along with understanding their roles in history! 
 
Spelling: We are working with words that have related root words in them. This week our spelling words are… add, addition, forget, forgot, forgotten, move, movers, moving, work, worked.
*We will be having our spelling test on Friday!”

Along with some estimating as well with quantity and difference using number stories. We will be taking our Unit 6 lesson this week!
 
Homework: Your student will have math and spelling homework each week to complete.  Homework will go home on Monday’s and needs to be completed and returned the following Tuesday, February 10th.

Language Arts: We are continuing unit 6! Looking into cultures, traditions, and learning about lessons/morals from stories we read. Along with how these lessons can be connected to our own lives. Thinking about what we can learn from other cultures and traditions as well!

Homework: Your student will have math and spelling homework each week to complete.  Homework will go home on Monday’s and needs to be completed and returned the following Monday January 26th.
