Hello all! This is a friendly reminder that our Valentine's Day Flower Fundraiser is in it's final week. If you would like your child to purchase a flower and card for a friend or staff member, it is $1. The last day of the fundraiser is Tuesday, January 31.

Homework update

Hello all!

I have sent emails to all of the families regarding missing homework. If you did not receive one, that means your student is not missing any homework. If you know that your student did their work, please check their folder, backpack, and home. If you find any, please send it to school!

I want to let you know that we will be starting a new procedure when it comes to missing homework. If your student comes to school without their homework completed, they will need to do it during fitness every day. For example, if your student did not finish the homework that was given today, they will be doing it during fitness tomorrow. If they are absent, I will make sure they get a copy and they can bring it in the next day, no worries.

Please make sure that your students are doing their homework. Many grades are suffering due to the missing work. Remember, homework is extra practice to help them learn.

Thank you!

Scissors needed

Hello!

Our class is in need of child-sized scissors. We had a low turn out for those this year. we could use a few extra, so we don't need to share anymore. If you are able to contribute to our classroom, it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Mrs. Ries

This "week"

Hi all!

I hope you have all had a wonderful winter break (+3 extra days)! I wanted to give you a heads up of what tomorrow is going to look like. As you may recall, we finished up our math unit 4 before the break. Instead of introducing the new content then giving the students a weekend to forget it all, tomorrow is going to be a "centers day". I may start implementing these on Fridays as a time for students to learn to work independently and in groups. This will also give me another opportunity to meet with students in small groups and give them exactly what they need. We did this the Friday before break and the kids LOVED it!

So, tomorrow we are going to do centers during math and language to review skills that we may have forgotten over the last 3 weeks. We are also going to review what it looks like to be a model citizen in first grade. The second half of the year is known for "forgetting" what that looks like, so our class is going to work hard to remember that.

There will, obviously, be no spelling this week;). There will, also, be no homework tomorrow. However, I will be sending home another packet for students to work on incase of more e-learning days to come. Please keep this with the other packet that has been home.

Also, don't forget ANIMAL DRESS DAY IS TOMORROW!

I am so excited to get back into the classroom with our students tomorrow!

Mrs. Ries
