Here is a snapshot of our last FULL week of school!
Math: We will be finishing Unit 9. The assessment at the end of the unit is a LONG assessment. We will be splitting it up over three days. Please make sure that your student is here all week.
Homework: Homework this week is: 9-11 and 9-12. I have intentionally made no homework for the rest of the week. I want your students to be practicing the fact flashcards that I have sent home a few times.
Remember: Homework is mandatory and graded. Homework is an important tool to help create neuro-pathways. If your student does not complete missing homework, they will be doing it in our detention room during fitness time.
Language Arts: We will be continuing our final Language Arts unit. We will be comparing and contrasting the story of Cinderella from many different countries! We have a Story Map assessment on Monday and a Compare and Contrast assessment on Wednesday.
Spelling: No Spelling this week. We will be hitting our sight words hard. PLEASE keep practicing these at home. If you need another copy of these words, remember, you can find them in one of my pervious posts. I posted all of the words in a file.
Grammar: We will be working on our handwriting to perfect it before second grade.
Science: We will be wrapping up our butterfly unit with some fun activities!
Upcoming School events:
May 30: May Madness in the PM
May 31: Book Fair at 9:30-10:00am.
Students will ONLY be allowed to shop for books during this time.
May 31: Lunch at the Park. We earned a lunch at the park. All of first grade will be able to eat lunch at the park.
June 8: Last day of school for students
Other reminders and notes:.
Many students are getting super close to graduating their sight words. Please keep working on these at home. If you forgot, I posted a file with all of the sight words listed. You can print off your student's color. Your student should know what color they are on.
