Report Cards

Good morning,
Report cards will be coming home today. Please make sure to check your student's backpacks for them!
Have a great day!

Uniforms and last day

Just a friendly reminder that uniforms are required unless otherwise stated. Athlos Administration is really trying to "crack down" on uniforms. UPDATE: The last day of school will be a free dress day.

Also, just to clarify, Thursday IS a full day.

Thank you!

Last week of school!

Happy last week of school everyone!

This week we will be reviewing math skills that we have learned over the summer.

For language, we will be watching Cinderella to compare and contrast the movie with the stories that we have been reading.

No homework and no spelling this week. I will be sending home a summer work packet. This is important to combat the "summer slide".

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR STUDENT BRINGS THEIR BACKPACK ON THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!

The last day of school is Thursday, June 8. THERE IS NO SCHOOL ON FRIDAY.

Stomach Flu

Good morning! It seems that the stomach flu is going around our classroom. We have had 6 students out in the last week for vomiting. If your student is complaining of stomach pain, it might be best to keep them home. We do not have anything academically big going on in our classroom for the rest of the year, so don't worry about that. Just keep your little one comfortable.

Week of 5/30- 6/2

Here is a snapshot of our last FULL week of school!

Math: We will be finishing Unit 9. The assessment at the end of the unit is a LONG assessment. We will be splitting it up over three days. Please make sure that your student is here all week.
Homework:  Homework this week is: 9-11 and 9-12. I have intentionally made no homework for the rest of the week. I want your students to be practicing the fact flashcards that I have sent home a few times.
Remember: Homework is mandatory and graded. Homework is an important tool to help create neuro-pathways. If your student does not complete missing homework, they will be doing it in our detention room during fitness time.

Language Arts: We will be continuing our final Language Arts unit. We will be comparing and contrasting the story of Cinderella from many different countries! We have a Story Map assessment on Monday and a Compare and Contrast assessment on Wednesday.

Spelling: No Spelling this week. We will be hitting our sight words hard. PLEASE keep practicing these at home. If you need another copy of these words, remember, you can find them in one of my pervious posts. I posted all of the words in a file.

Grammar: We will be working on our handwriting to perfect it before second grade.

Science: We will be wrapping up our butterfly unit with some fun activities!

URGENT DANCE INFO. PLEASE READ

Hello, hopefully you referred to the flier about the dates for the mother/son and father/daughter dance. With all of the events coming up at the end of the year, I have been posting the incorrect dates for the dances. The mother/son dance is tomorrow, Wednesday, May 17 at 12:45. The father/daughter dance is Thursday, May 18 at 12:45. Sorry if there was any confusion!! The end of the year has all of our teacher heads spinning!:)

Talent Show

Hello all,

As you may know, Athlos' annual talent show is on June 1st this year. As first-grade, we have decided not to participate in the acts. However, we will be watching and we will be having our own first-grade talent show at recess. If your student has a talent that they would like to show, please email me to let me know. From there, your student can show me their talent (to ensure that it is appropriate and planned out). These acts need to be planned out and practiced at home. Then, I will get them a time at our first-grade recess talent show.

As always, please email if you have any questions.
Thank you!
